About me
My journey began in Palmyra, Syria, where I first became interested in how economic pressures shape political dynamics. This early curiosity developed into a lifelong academic pursuit, culminating in a PhD in International Relations from the University of St Andrews in 2017.
Over the past decade, I have taught and conducted research at universities across the UK and Europe, with a focus on Middle Eastern politics, international development, and conflict studies. My work bridges academia and practice, drawing on extensive experience in consultative roles with governmental bodies, NGOs, and research institutions. These roles have deepened my expertise in project design, strategic analysis, and policy evaluation.
I am the author of State and Tribes in Syria: Informal Alliances and Conflict Patterns (Routledge, 2019) and co-editor of Spoils of War in the Arab East: Reconditioning Society and Polity in Conflict (Bloomsbury, 2024). My research has been presented at major international conferences and institutions, including the London School of Economics, the University of Oxford, and Uppsala University.
Fluent in cross-cultural communication and political analysis, I specialize in turning complex regional dynamics into clear, actionable insights. I am always open to new collaborations—whether academic, policy-oriented, or strategic in nature—that seek to deepen our understanding of the Middle East and its global relevance.
